Stage 3 — Mark Up the Plans
Part of Survey & Markup.
Place sockets, lights, radiators, pipe runs, cameras and vents onto the drawings, one colour-coded layer per trade, and commit a version.
Methodology: Each trade — Electrical, Lighting, Plumbing, Heating, Security + Automation, Entertainment, Ventilation — is its own layer, so an electrician's schedule never carries the plumber's items. Symbols are the fittings; runs join symbols (cable, pipe, duct) and are measured from the drawing's scale. Nothing is fixed until you Commit version: that stamps a numbered version and sends its counts to the Item Schedule. Layers you never draw can be hidden under Settings → Survey & Markup.
Steps:
- Pick a trade tab and a drawing.
- Choose a symbol from the palette and click to place it; drag to move, click to edit its properties (rating, height, flow rate for vents).
- Draw runs between symbols; the consumer unit and boiler act as shared supplies across layers.
- Use Show Symbols / Show Runs to declutter the view — these change what you see, never what a supplier is issued.
- Press Commit version when a layer is ready; re-committing later updates counts without losing prices already chosen on the schedule. Export gives a PDF of the markup.
